RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) has hired former First State Investments manager Habib Subjally and his global equities team.
Mr Subjally is set to move to RBC as head of global equities in early March and will be joined at the firm by nine of his former team at First State.
Neil Abbott, Luis Benoliel, Marcus Lun, Jeremy Richardson, Julie Thomas, Dag Wetterwald, Perry Winfield and Ben Yeoh will join RBC as senior portfolio managers, while Romain Scampini will round out the team as a portfolio manager.
Mr Subjally had been head of global equities at First State for the past eight years but left after the firm wound up his funds to focus on its Worldwide and Worldwide Sustainability funds, run by the First State Stewart team.
John Montalbano, chief executive of RBC GAM, said the new hires would work across a “wide range of global mandates”.
