Henderson boosts sales team with Nesbit hire

Henderson Global Investors has become the latest asset management firm to strengthen its sales team tasked with getting its funds on firms’ increasingly centralised buy lists.

Henderson has hired Matthew Nesbit from Goldman Sachs Asset Management to be an associate director in charge of “key London accounts”, with a particular focus on discretionary managers.

Mr Nesbit will join Henderson on April 28 2014 and will work alongside Matthew Frost and William Hamilton.

With more money in the industry becoming concentrated towards discretionary managers, adviser networks and platforms, the need is increasing for asset managers to have sales people that can get the firm’s funds onto these clients’ recommended fund lists.

In December 2013, JPMorgan restructured its sales team to create a team dedicated to getting funds onto those lists, while consultancy firm Platforum last year released research that suggested other asset managers may soon be forced to follow suit.
