Dominic Howard, European sales director for Best Doctors, said the service would help to direct users to quick, accurate and authoritative information.

He said: “The internet makes it easy to obtain medical information. However, it is not always easy to find high-quality, trustworthy and specific information that answers what are often serious concerns.”

KEY FEATURES

Eligible members can contact GPs with non-urgent medical questions and receive an answer within 72 hours.

The service is intended to provide general information on health care issues, such as:

* an explanation of healthy habits and preventative procedures;

* a general description or definitions of conditions and symptoms;

* information on diseases;

* explanation of diagnostic procedures;

* clarification of test results;

* explanation of therapeutic procedures;

* clarification of medical terms;

* descriptions of drug side effects.

ADVISER VERDICT

Nick McBreen, of Cornwall-based Worldwide Financial Planning, said: “Anything that will facilitate client information, that is useful and not just fluff and noise is a good thing. Mr Howard makes a good point that Google is only two clicks away from complete misinformation.”
