In September 2013 NS&I began a formal retender for the contract and has confirmed Matrix Capital will take over from the incumbent provider Close Brothers Asset Management on 1 April 2014.
NS&I offers a financial advisory service provided by an advice firm to every winner, although it remains up to individuals to decide whether or not to accept the service.
Julian Hynd, retail director at NS&I, said the new contract would ensure premium bonds jackpot winners “continue to have the option of receiving high-quality financial advice”.
Robin Melley, chief executive of Matrix Capital, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen by NS&I and are passionate about providing all our clients with a personal service that creates added value through the application of the highest standards of financial advice.”
Matrix Capital’s chief executive Robin Melley won the award for chartered financial planner of the year from the Personal Finance Society last November.
