This after all is an almost 15 per cent rise from the much derided FSA’s costs last year.

This got me wondering, in the new world of openness and transparency about fees and charges, should the client not be allowed to figure out whether there has been any improvement in consumer outcomes for this not inconsiderable outlay?

We all know that the regulatory authorities were established to prevent consumer detriment and have singularly failed in this regard (banking failures, PPI, Arch Cru, Ucis).

But there must surely be some improvement in consumer outcomes for this outlay; access to advice, speed of delivery, transparency, openness - hang on I think this is where I started.
