Pressure builds on fund groups over ‘single’ fund charge

“With low interest rates set to prevail for some time yet, it’s unlikely that cash products will be able to fill this gap any time soon, but it could well pave the way for a degree of innovation in terms of the ever-growing funds industry.

“More sophisticated investors may well be happy with the status quo, confident that a good fund manager will always do what is best for them whilst acknowledging that buying and selling comes at a cost.

“However, clearer pricing would certainly have the potential to give a greater number of entry-level investors the confidence to start saving for the future.”
