Personal Touch said that her appointment was made “after a rigorous selection process, which was part of a detailed and lengthy consultation to secure the best possible successor for the network and its members.”

Mr Wright, who has been chief executive for the past five years, will continue in the business as non-executive director and will become chairman in 2015.

The network said that Mr Wright intends to keep an active role with the network and provide continued support to his new chief executive, members and staff for the future, whilst continuing to promote the network at an industry level.

Ms Cross said: “Taking up this new role will inevitably be a very hard act to follow but I am thoroughly driven by the long term challenge of keeping up the great work and building on it going forward.”
