Legal and General has closed its face-to-face broker support team, making eight roles redundant, due to how the industry has developed in the post-Retail Distribution Review world.
Prior to this, advisers could have fact-to-face meetings with those within L&G’s adviser support team.
However, adviser support will now only be provided by telephone and online by L&G’s adviser support team in Hove.
At present, three of the face-to-face team have been given other roles within the company, and the team will finish work at the end of December.
An L&G spokesperson said that the redundancies were a result of post Retail Distribution Review development and that there was a reduced need for face-to-face broker support in the field.
“This is further restructuring following RDR as we see business needs evolving,” the spokesperson stated.
In October 2013, L&G confirmed that 600 jobs were at risk as a result of a merger of the firm’s savings and protection business.
