Kames Capital has promoted Stephen Adams as head of equities with immediate effect.
Mr Adams has worked at Kames for 14 years, and was previously head of UK equities at the firm. While his appointment will put him in charge of a 26-strong team, the company said he will also remain lead manager on the £372.1m Kames UK Equity fund, which he runs with Peter Shaw.
In November Kames’ head of overseas equities Piers Hillier departed for Royal London Asset Management, and at the time the company stated it would not be looking for a direct replacement.
Stephen Jones, chief investment officer at Kames Capital, said: “Our UK and international equities managers already operate with a shared philosophy and a unified team under Stephen will strengthen our research capabilities and enhance the sharing of investment ideas.
“Having a single equities team also reflects the increasing importance of global equity mandates to Kames Capital.”
