Aegon UK’s sponsorship of three-time cancer survivor Patrick McIntosh has helped the financial adviser to walk to the South Pole.

Having pushed himself to reach the pole on the 103rd anniversary of the day Captain Scott reached it in 1912, the 58-year-old Surrey adviser from KMG Chartered Financial Planners said he “felt like a million dollars”.

Mr McIntosh – who had undergone treatment for bowel, skin and prostate cancer all within 13 months in 2012-13 – added: “I am the first man to have not only survived three cancers, but to also have walked 222km to the South Pole.”
