Colleagues from Leeds Building Society recently raised £550 for the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Wear It. Beat It.’ day by taking part in red-themed events in support of the fight for every heartbeat.
The fundraising took place at the society’s head office and branches. The mutual’s branches will attempt to increase the overall fundraising effort by promoting the BHF’s red heart pin badges until the end of February.
Some 7m people in the UK live with heart and circulatory disease, which is responsible for almost 160,000 deaths in the UK each year – an average of 440 people a day.
