True Potential’s 2015 conference also looked at a subject usually neglected in finance: emotion.

Professor Mark Fenton-O’Creevy of the Open University Business School argued that emotions were influential in financial decisions.

He cited the account of a young City trader who, feeling the pressure of his work, retired to the toilet to vomit, while more experienced hands talked of controlling and channelling their feelings.
