The economic recovery has made smaller businesses an attractive investment opportunity, Albion Ventures managing partner Patrick Reeve has said.
Research by the London-based investment manager revealed that 68 per cent of advisers said smaller businesses presented attractive investment opportunities, while 37 per cent of IFAs suggested clients specifically looked to invest in UK businesses.
“This is an exciting time for young UK businesses with ambitions to grow. With favourable economic tailwinds and a supportive investor community, small firms have a tremendous window of opportunity to make a mark,” he said.
With the increase in investor interest in backing small businesses, advisers believe it would have a positive effect on the VCT market, according to the research.
“On average they predict the sector will attract over £475m this tax year, up from £435.8m during the last,” Mr Reeve added.
