Global and UK investment trusts proved to be the most popular sectors over the first quarter of 2015, Annabel Brodie-Smith has said.
The communications director for the investment company trade body claimed these two sectors have remained popular for several months, although some relatively specialist sectors, such as commodities, were also among the top 10 most-viewed on the Association of Investment Companies website.
She said: “As investors look to top up their Isas, the first quarter is an interesting time to see which companies have been attracting the attention of AIC website users. The global and UK-focused sectors clearly remain the most popular, with some specialist sectors, such as commodities and biotechnology, also making an appearance on the list.”

Ben Gutteridge, head of fund research for London-based Brewin Dolphin, said: “One of the investment trusts we think are worth considering to help achieve additional return, alongside additional risk, is the F&C European Small Cap ex-UK, managed by Sam Cosh and Lucy Morris.”
