Fraudster jailed for nearly four years

A compulsive gambler with an expensive habit has been jailed for nearly four years for masterminding a £3.3m Ponzi fraud while at the helm of a betting company.

Southwark Crown Court heard David Gerald Dixon, 49, used the massive swindle to fund an extravagant lifestyle of exotic travel through his companies Arboretum Sports (UK) Limited and Arboretum Sports (USA) Inc.

Jailing him for three years and 10 months, Judge Alistair McCreath said: “Because of lies, you caused people who saw an opportunity to invest in your scheme considerable loss indeed.”
