Lord Bradley confirmed as shadow pensions minister

The Labour Party have confirmed that Lord Bradley will become the shadow pensions minister in the next parliament.

He will succeed Greg McClymont in the role, who lost his seat at the recent general election.

Mr Bradley became a working life peer in the House of Lords in April 2006, after being the Labour MP for the Manchester Withington constituency from 1987 until he lost his seat in 2005.

He was most recently the party’s shadow spokesperson for health from 2013 and also shadow spokesperson for work and pensions from 2013 onwards.

The move will mean that both the government and opposition pensions ministers will sit in the House of Lords, following the appointment of Baroness Altmann as pensions minister.
