Dan Kemp takes on Morningstar CIO role

Dan Kemp has replaced Daniel Needham as chief investment officer of Morningstar’s Investment Management group for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Mr Kemp had joined Morningstar in 2014 as co-head of investment consulting and portfolio management, but has taken on the new role following Mr Needham’s elevation to president and chief investment officer for the Morningstar Investment Management group in January 2015.

Following Mr Kemp’s move, Robin Johnson has been appointed sole head of portfolio management for EMEA.

The role had previously been shared by Mr Kemp and My Johnson as the two co-heads of investment consulting and portfolio management, but the later has now taken full responsibility.

Morningstar said the removal of ‘investment consulting’ from Mr Johnson’s job title reflected the firm’s greater emphasis on investment management.
