Ex-Standard Life boss plans to boost your business

Standard Life’s former head of business services, Innes Miller, has launched a consultancy business called Scydonia, which will be aimed at wealth managers and financial planners.

The company will provide consultancy support to the heads of firms who are seeking to create high-growth businesses operating primarily in the UK savings and investment market.

Mr Miller, who has had a long-standing interest in business support for financial advisers, said Scydonia will provide support in a number of areas, including insight and thought leadership, business planning, sales and marketing and mergers and acquisitions.

He said that, coupled with the introduction of initiatives, such as pension freedoms in the UK, MiFID II across Europe, and the outcome of the newly launched Financial Advice Market Review, there will be implications “requiring careful consideration for all players operating in this market”.

Therefore, in addition to wealth planning firms, Scydonia will provide support to asset managers, technology companies, platform providers and private equity firms.

Mr Miller added: “The UK savings and investments market is at an exciting stage of its development. Business leaders have choices to make relating to where they position their business in the market, and how they develop it tomeet these new challenges and opportunities.

“Our aim is to help them make the right decisions and take advantage of what lies ahead.”
