As Britons celebrated the longest reign in British (or is that English?) history, financial services teams have been pointing out that during her time on the throne, the country has prospered.
The FTSE 30 has turned into the FTSE 100, rising from 1,000 to more than 7,000, and when the Queen acceded to the throne in 1952, trading was still done face-to-face, with settlement done just once a week.
The Queen might not look on the markets so favourably, however. She did, after all, ask why no one saw the recent financial crisis coming.
