Aviva has launched a group protection product which includes a full suite of workplace products and services.
Aviva managing director for group protection Steve Bridger said: “We want to offer our clients and members the best possible security and support when they need it most, and the proposition we have created does exactly that.
“We have taken a good look at the market and adapted our products to create a better fit with people’s lives.
“More and more people are surviving cancer and then going back to work, and it was important to recognise that.”
■ The option to offer employees cover when they have been previously diagnosed with cancer on both critical illness and cancer cover products.
■ Enhancements to the existing critical illness definitions.
■ A wide range of value added services including access to support service RedArc and specialist second opinion service Best Doctors.
Sebastian van Mook, an adviser with Shropshire-based Abacus Associates, said: “I am aware of one case in which the person had a cancer removed but then managed to get some critical illness cover, so there are providers out there who will consider it.”
