Aberdeen’s Brett leaves to take non-exec role

Aberdeen Asset Management head of distribution John Brett is to step down and take on a non-executive role with its Life and Pensions business and could consider “additional potential roles”.

Mr Brett is to leave at the end of 2015 and said he would pursue a different career path, but will take on the non-executive role as part of the change.

He also said Aberdeen wanted him to consider “additional potential roles” beyond the non-executive directorship.

Meanwhile Avril McLean, chief operating officer, distribution, will coordinate global distribution activity for an interim period.

Aberdeen chief executive Martin Gilbert said: “John has done a fantastic job for us, particularly in integrating the acquisition of SWIP.

“I am delighted that he will continue to work with us. I am sure that, given time, other opportunities will develop where John can potentially play a significant role.”
