Fidelity’s Horrell joins IA board

The Investment Association (IA) has appointed Fidelity UK managing director Peter Horrell to its board, in the first new adddition since former chief executive Daniel Godfrey’s resignation.

Mr Horrell joined Fidelity earlier this year to become UK managing director, having previously worked as the chief executive of wealth & investment management at Barclays.

IA interim chief executive Guy Sears said: “Having joined Fidelity International in March, we invited Peter Horrell to be part of the IA board, and we are delighted that he has agreed to join. As the UK managing director, Peter has a wealth of expertise that will be a perfect fit for us.

“Fidelity International works with the IA at all levels and already has a number of senior stakeholders sitting on IA committees.”

In October, Mr Godfrey left the IA after the news Schroders and M&G were to let their memberships lapse at the end of the year resulted in Mr Godfrey losing the support of his board.

In the same week IA chair Helena Morrissey announced the trade body would consult members on “how the association prioritises against a packed agenda for the industry”.
