Green bonds fund launched by Axa

Axa Investment Managers has launched the Axa WF Planet Bonds Sicav to help advisers whose clients want to invest in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The fund is a green bond, which will provide investors with access to the growing global green bonds market.

It will invest in both pure green bonds and bond issuers who, according to Axa IM’s internal environmental, social and governance process, have high environmental convictions and therefore present a solid case for green investment.

It will be run by Axa IM’s Global Rates team in collaboration with the Responsible Investment team.

Andrea Rossi, chief executive of AXA Investment Managers, said: “Meeting our clients’ needs requires continued efforts to understand and anticipate changing factors that affect financial markets as well as the objectives of our clients. This includes climate change.

“As long-term investors, we recognise the threat of climate change and the need to mitigate the potential impact on the global economy.”

Adviser view

Olivia Bowen, partner for Manchester-based Castlefield Advisory Partners, said: “This fund is a great development for our sector. We want ethical/sustainable considerations to become mainstream, and so the more providers who acknowledge the threats of resource scarcity and climate change, the better.

“Any new funds help to bolster support for our sector by bringing more choice to investors and their advisers. Making money from investments is all about forward-thinking and the firms that demonstrate an understanding of future environmental and social and therefore financial challenges, will stand out from the competition.”
