Seven-year itch for Zurich’s Richard Howells

Seven years after joining Zurich, Richard Howells, its UK intermediary sales director, is set to move to pastures new.

Mr Howells, who has been a prominent spokesman in Apfa’s Limit the Liability campaign, which seeks to implement a long-stop or equivalent protection for advisers, is set to leave Zurich on 30 November.

It is as yet unknown whether he has a new role but Mr Howells said he was “looking for a new challenge”.

Mr Howells said: “I’ve enjoyed my seven years helping to transform the way in which Zurich serves the intermediary market.

“In that time we have seen huge change, including the financial crisis, RDR and now the Financial Advice Market Review. With a broad proposition, strong intermediary partnerships and a highly qualified and capable team, Zurich is particularly well set for the future.

“With these firm foundations in place, I have decided to look for a new challenge. I am sure Zurich will go from strength to strength and look forward to seeing its continued success in the retail market”.

According to a statement from Zuirch, from 1 December, the retail sales management team will report directly to David White, managing director for retail.
