Rathbones appoints new head of financial planning

Rathbone Investment Management has appointed Gaius Jones as head of financial planning.

He begins his new role today, based in London, having been a Chartered financial planner for 25 years.

Mr Jones was previously a chief executive of Ashcourt Rowan Financial Planning, where he led the re-engineering of their approach to financial planning.

He joined John Scott and Partners in 1999, and held a number of senior roles during that firm’s evolution, concluding as a board member of Towry.

Rathbones chief executive Philip Howell said Mr Jones’ experience and understanding of the interaction between investment management and financial planning will be an asset to clients.

In October, Mr Howells said that the firm’s acquisition of the remaining stake in the Cornwall-based adviser Vision Group was part of a wider strategy of “broadening its distribution and accessing a greater share of new business intermediated by financial advisers”.
