Scottish Widows Bank names new MD

Scottish Widows Bank has appointed Martin Fleming as its new managing director, starting yesterday (14 December).

Prior to taking up his new role Mr Fleming was director of motor operations and service management for consumer finance at Lloyds Banking Group.

Martin brings with him a wealth of experience in intermediary channels spanning the last 20 years, including consultancy roles at Axa Insurance and Britannia Building Society, strategy, change and IT roles at Clerical Medical, retail strategy and finance director at RBS as well as chairman of RBS Independent Financial Services.

He joined Lloyds Banking Group in 2013.

Mr Fleming will be responsible for the day to day running of Scottish Widows Bank and, along with the rest of our Scottish Widows Bank board, its future strategy.

He will report into Mike Jones, managing director of intermediaries and specialist brands at Lloyds Banking Group.

Mr Fleming said: “Scottish Widows Bank is a great brand, with a committed team and a reputation for excellent products and service. I’m looking forward to the challenge, and leading it into the next stage of growth.”

Mr Jones said: “In the last few years we have successfully restructured and simplified our business model with a clear focus on sourcing intermediary business and a more efficient operation as a result.

“I know Martin is excited by the prospect of leading Scottish Widow Bank forward. I know he will make the best of the opportunities for our customers, for brokers and for the brand.”
