James Hay Partnership bulks up sales team

James Hay Partnership has appointed two new platform consultants, along with further hires in the strategic account managers team.

Sam Turner and David Lucas come in as platform consultants and will provide face to face technical training to advisers.

Mr Turner previously worked at Aegon as a platform implementation manager and Mr Lucas was already at James Hay as an internal trainer.

The firm said that further hires have been made in the strategic account managers team. Earlier this month, Nicholas Sleep joined from LV and Andy Mackleworth joins in January from Axa Life Invest. They both held account manager roles at their previous firms.

Additionally, Emily Trenouth is joining as a business development manager from Metlife, where she also held a similar role.

Director of distribution Paul Bagley, said: “Whilst other platforms are having to focus on making sure they’re ready for Sunset, concerned with re-tooling or struggle to make a profit, we’re fortunate not only to have been Sunset-ready since the word go but we also own our IT infrastructure.

“Those two facts, coupled with a financially robust parent which is committed to the UK platform market, means we’re able to re-invest back into the business.”

He added that the hires will all focus on providing our customers with more support.

In March this year, the firm saw its number of regional business development managers drop from 10 to four in a few weeks, with the advisers they served instead being offered support over the telephone.

The exodus, which followed several senior manager departures, was part of a restructuring as the firm evolves from being a self-invested pension provider to a broader wealth management and retirement-focused platform, according to a statement at the time.
