Investors turned to UK, European and Japanese equity funds in November 2015 as net retail sales recorded their second-best month of 2015.
Equities were the main driver of the overall figure with net sales of £1.1bn, up from £720m in October, according to figures from the Investment Association.
The figure was the best for the asset class since July. Overall net retail sales of £1.7bn also represented the highest level since July, the trade body said.
IA interim chief executive Guy Sears said: “This [level of sales] was mainly driven by investors looking to equity funds for returns, with UK and European-focused products leading the way.
“We also saw renewed investor appetite for Japanese equity funds as the sector returned to the top five selling with net retail sales nearly double their 12-month average.”
Mixed asset was the second best-selling asset class, with £150m of net retail sales, followed by property with £141m.
UK Equity Income was the most popular IA sector, with net retail sales of £448m, followed by Targeted Absolute Return on £306m.
