AllianzGI acquires bond specialist from Old Mutual

Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) is to acquire fixed income specialist Rogge Global Partners (RGP) for an undisclosed amount, subject to regulatory approval.

The transaction will see AllianzGI buy 100 per cent of the issued share capital in the firm from RGP management and current majority owner Old Mutual.

AllianzGI has increasingly pushed into the fixed income space in recent years, with the creation of an Asian fixed income team, the development of its emerging market debt team and, last year, the hiring of former M&G manager Mike Riddell.

Andreas Utermann, global chief investment officer and chief executive-elect at the company, said the deal would “substantially enhance AllianzGI’s footprint in the UK as well as making RGP’s strategies available to more clients globally”.
