Colleague’s memory helps raise £16,000

Retirement Advantage has raised £16,000 for an Echo Cardiac Machine for Southampton Hospital, in memory of Sarah Sharp, one of the firm’s staff.

Sarah passed away towards the end of 2015 at only 41 years of age. But, according to Retirement Advantage, in characteristic style she left an upbeat wish list of how she wanted her life to be celebrated, rather than mourned.

A crucial part of her request was that her family, friends and colleagues support Southampton Hospital to raise £35,000 for an Echo Cardiac Ultrasound Machine.

This machine plays a life-saving role for pregnant women with congenital heart defects, is highly portable and can be taken to a patient’s bedside and set up quickly to run tests. It means pregnant women will receive faster, better results and have appropriate medical management and care to optimise the safety of both mother and baby.

Retirement Advantage embarked upon a huge number of activities including a charity walk, a quiz night, and a curry evening.

With an aim to raise a total of £2,500, with the company promising to double that, on the final day of all the challenges the firm had raised £8,000, with the company promise to match raising that to an amazing £16,000.
