Neil Woodford boasts a celebrity status even among the fund manager star system, and this was no more evident than at the FE Alpha Manager Awards 2016.
Mr Woodford was crowned champion in the UK Equity Income category at the glitzy awards ceremony, which took place in London’s Living Room at City Hall, London, last week.
However, when it became time for him to collect the award, there was an audible groan from members of the audience when it was revealed that the fund manager was not in attendance.
His representative walked onto the stage to pick up the accolade on his behalf and someone said: “It looks like Neil has gone on a ‘no carbs’ diet.”
