Investec brings global income fund to UK market

Investec is to build on the arrival of managers Simon Brazier and Blake Hutchins with the launch of a third onshore product run by one of the ex-Threadneedle duo.

Investment Adviser understands the fund house is planning to launch an Oeic version of the Global Quality Equity Income Sicav, co-managed by Mr Hutchins, later this month.

Mr Hutchins joined the management team of the offshore $194m (£133m) Global Quality Equity Income vehicle last summer, and will co-manage the onshore version alongside Clyde Rossouw and Abrie Pretorius.

Mr Brazier and Mr Hutchins joined Investec in 2014 after quitting Threadneedle along with three other team members, with Mr Brazier becoming co-head of quality alongside Mr Rossouw and taking over the UK Alpha fund.

The Global Quality Equity Income Sicav has returned 4.3 per cent in the past year, well above the 7 per cent shed by the average fund in its offshore global equity peer group, data from FE Analytics shows.

Meanwhile Mr Hutchins’ UK Equity Income fund, launched last January, has shed 3.1 per cent over one year compared with the average loss of 3.2 per cent for its IA sector.

The launch of the new Oeic is subject to regulatory approval. Investec declined to comment.
