Darlington Building Society has supported a local women’s refuge with donations of equipment and a fundraising event held by staff.
The Society is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year, and is spending the year fundraising for good causes, including the Darlington Women’s Refuge.
Staff donated 160 gifts for an Easter raffle and the proceeds were used to purchase children’s clothes.
The Darlington Women’s Refuge offers temporary accommodation to women and children who have left an abusive environment, and a helpline for anyone affected by domestic abuse.
Nicki Tweddle, customer support officer at Darlington Building Society, said: “The Women’s Refuge offers invaluable support for women and children across the local area who need a safe place to stay. Helping them in any way possible is vital.”
A spokesperson from The Darlington Women’s Refuge, said: “The charity is so grateful to businesses for their ongoing support.”
