Mr Jackson ran the £175m EdenTree UK Equity Growth fund for almost 12 years until July 2015.

Miton managing director Gervais Williams (pictured) said: “Andrew has all of the strengths for the role, including a record of impressive returns over an extended period.

“He is very well suited to taking a leadership role on the UK Value Opportunities fund, given the fund already has a history of delivering attractive returns, with stock weightings that are largely independent of the mainstream indices.”

Miton had hired a headhunter to replace the duo, who are serving out their notice periods before joining Polar Capital, as the fund’s assets dropped from £869m at the end of March to £590m a month later.

A Miton spokesman said earlier this month: “Outflows are to be expected in these situations. The liquidity of the portfolio and cash position mean we are able to manage redemptions.”
