British Friendly extends deferred period options

British Friendly has extended the deferred period options on its short term income protection products, Short Term Protect and Breathing Space.

These products now have deferred period options of one, four, eight and 13 weeks. These are available exclusively on British Friendly’s quote and apply website and on Webline.

They will be rolled-out to other portals in the coming weeks.

British Friendly launched their new brand in May and, so far in 2016, has announced a death benefit of six months to all new and existing members at no extra cost, and created an immediate acceptance application through their online system.

We want to provide as many comprehensive, flexible and affordable options as possible. Iain Clark

Iain Clark, distribution and marketing director at British Friendly, said: “We have been working hard over the last eight months to make it as easy as possible for advisers to do business with us.

“We want, in turn, to make it as easy as possible for advisers to do business with their clients and expanding the deferred period options our short term income protection to make it market leading is a logical step.”

Tom Conner, director at Drewberry Insurance, said: “The role of an adviser is to tailor the options of a product to fit the specific needs of clients and this development by British Friendly allows us to do just that.

“It will have an immediate impact on the recommendations we make to clients and is therefore very welcome.”
