For a start, according to Steve Webb, former pensions minister and MP, if you are standing up in parliament to deliver a speech, none of your friends want to sit near you, as they would appear in your shadow.
But even worse, any wardrobe malfunction gets scrutinised straight away.

During a live airing of Prime Minister’s Questions, one MP, who was the chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, stood up in the House, perhaps mindful of his indulgence, when his wife paged him, saying: “Tuck your shirt in, your belly’s showing”.
