Schroders appoints retail investment trusts boss

Schroders has appointed John Spedding as head of investment trusts for its UK intermediary business in a bid to boost its closed-ended business’s profile among clients.

Mr Spedding, who most recently served as head of asset management secretariat at the fund house, will take up the new role in the third quarter.

He has held a number of roles at Schroders in the last two decades including client director, and will now report to UK intermediary managing director Robin Stoakley.

He will be responsible for the overall strategy of the £2.7bn investment trust business, including “oversight of relationships with clients...and the development of new opportunities”.

Mr Stoakley said: “John will increase our profile in this industry and will provide support for investment trusts to the UK intermediary business development team and to other parts of Schroders’ business.”
