Jupiter poaches Barings man for Japan team

Barings manager Mitesh Patel is to join Jupiter next month to work on its Japan funds.

Mr Patel, has been an investment manager at Barings since 2013 and previously worked at BlackRock, worked on Barings’ £21m Japan Growth trust.

He will join Jupiter on October 3, supporting Dan Carter on the £570m Japan Income and $37m (£28m) Japan Select Sicav funds.

His arrival follows on from the departure of longstanding manager Simon Somerville earlier this year.

Jupiter chief investment officer Stephen Pearson said: “We are delighted with the progress Dan has made since taking on the senior management role of the Japan equity portfolios.

“The recruitment of Mitesh to work alongside him adds further strength to our line up and underwrites our commitment to this strategy.”
