True Potential portfolios hit £1bn mark

Investors have ploughed £1bn into True Potential’s range of multi-manager portfolios, just 12 months since they launched.

The discretionary-managed True Potential Portfolios were launched in October last year, with fund managers including big names such as Goldman Sachs, Allianz Global Investors, and Schroders.

The range even saw growth during the EU referendum, which senior partner Mark Henderson put down to the large mix of assets.

The 10 risk-rated portfolios, which are managed at no additional cost beyond the fund charges, have seen growth between 8 and 19 per cent since they were set up.

Colin Beveridge, chief investment officer of True Potential Investments, said the portfolio proposition is attractive to investors because it uses passives and smart passives to lower costs, alongside active strategies that exploit inefficient areas of the market.

“This makes great sense to clients and they see the value very quickly. They can understand that no single strategy across all periods is perfect."

The portfolios have access to over 120,000 investment vehicles by blending a number multi-asset funds, and Mr Beveridge said this means the portfolios manage risk to benefit clients interested in maximising their wealth over the long-term.

The True Potential Portfolios, which have a starting investment of £50, are also managed by UBS, SEI, Seven Investment Management, Close Brothers Asset Management and Columbia Threadneedle.

Steve Hutton, head of UK and Ireland wholesale at UBS Asset Management said reaching the £1bn mark so quickly reflects how True Potential has focused on delivering a range of differentiated risk and return outcomes to clients in the most efficient and effective way possible.

“At UBS we are proud to be a True Potential investment partner and look forward to the continued success of True Potential Portfolios.”
