Liberty Sipp poaches senior hire from Frenkel Topping

Liberty Sipp has appointed Julie Dean as finance and operations director, a new role at the Manchester-based self-invested personal pension provider.

Ms Dean, until now chief finance officer at investment manager Frenkel Topping, will play a key role in consolidating Liberty’s growth. She will be working on expanding the provider client base and its network of IFA partnerships.

According to John Fox, managing director of Liberty SIPP, Ms Dean is joining the provider “at an exciting time.”

“The SIPP market has been transformed in recent years, and Liberty has been agile enough to evolve with it,” he said.

Ms Dean “has an impeccable financial pedigree and will play a vital role in ensuring our capability keeps pace as we continue to expand. She’ll help us lay the foundations of the next stage of our growth,” Mr Fox said.

Ms Dean said: “I look forward to joining the Liberty family and putting in place a robust framework that ensures the firm stays efficient, effective and profitable as it grows further.”

Liberty Sipp was able to reverse two years of losses in 2016. The company, which this summer celebrates its 10th anniversary, made a pre-tax profit of £420,000 in the year to April.

The provider's revenue grew to £2.1m – the highest in the firm’s history and a 39 per cent increase on the year before.

Liberty Sipp currently administers £1.8bn in client assets and works with 600 financial adviser firms across the UK.
