Kames absolute return manager exits after 17 years

Kames Capital absolute return manager David Griffiths is to depart the firm at the end of July, leaving responsibility for his three funds with co-managers David Pringle and Malcolm McPartlin.

Mr Griffiths currently co-manages Kames £372m UK Absolute Return strategy, along with the firm's two Equity Market Neutral funds that have a combined £216m in assets.

Kames said he was stepping down due to family commitments. The move calls time on Mr Griffiths' 17-year tenure with the business, the last seven of which he spent as a fund manager.

Mr Pringle and Mr McPartlin will take full responsibility for the three strategies and will be supported by the wider equity team led by Stephen Adams. The funds' investment objectives remain unchanged, Kames said.

"Kames would like to thank David for his contribution to our business over the last 17 years, and to wish him and his family every success in the future," a spokesperson added.

The UK Absolute Return strategy was launched in 2010 and was followed by the offshore Equity Market Neutral and Equity Market Neutral Plus funds in 2014.

All three vehicles were placed on capacity review last year, with the firm committing to preventing "big and unexpected inflows".

The three products remain under review but open to regular inflows.
