London accountant buys advice firm

Accountancy firm Carter Backer Winter has acquired Edwards Financial Services for an undisclosed sum

The purchase sees the Harrow-based Edwards team move across to CBW, with Edwards director Chris Clayton made partner of CBW.

Edwards was formed in 1986 and offers the full range of financial advice services to around 300 clients and around 20 small business company pension schemes.

Its assets under management are in excess of £50m, according to the firm.

Mr Clayton, director of financial planning at CBW, said Edwards was growing as a firm and “we wanted to take the next big step”.

“This involved a number of options, but we liked CBW because it shared our values, core ideas and provides a personal, high quality service just as we do. Our clients are all on board with the move.”

Peter Winter, managing partner at CBW, welcomed the experienced team at Edwards, who have been at that firm for close to three decades.

“We welcome their wealth of experience, knowledge and technical skills to our firm. They are the right fit for our highly client-focused team.

“The Edwards client base will be offered a broader range of services under the CBW umbrella.”
