Hargreaves makes appointment to lead tech push

Hargreaves Lansdown has hired a new head of development as it pledges to invest in and improve clients' user experience.

The Bristol-based FTSE 100 company has hired Matt Bonetti from independent software company TransVault.

David Davies, chief information officer at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: “The IT team’s role is to ensure that HL remains at the forefront of technology, providing our clients with a safe and reliable home for their investments, whilst continuing to evolve the products and services we can offer.

“The appointment of Matt Bonetti, who brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, is integral to our ability to ensure we can deliver an ever-improving experience for our growing client base.

“Our aim is to continue to invest and deliver an ever-improving experience to win the hearts and minds of the demanding UK consumer.”

Mr Bonetti is a mathematics graduate from Cambridge University who spent 16 years working in technology in the City of London before returning to the West Country four years ago to work at TransVault.

He said: “Bristol has always been the home of great engineers, but in recent years has established itself as a dynamic fintech hub, and is now the perfect place for talented developers to make their home.

“The opportunity to be at the heart of such a highly regarded and innovative business as Hargreaves Lansdown was one I couldn’t turn down, and I’m proud to be a part of its world class technology team.”
