Grid is launching a training academy to encourage best practice in the group risk sector
Experts at the industry body will provide training to help newcomers or those with limited support within their own companies.
Two workshops will kick off the academy to give people a good grounding in group risk. It will cover areas such as understanding the market, products and added-value benefits, taxation, legislation and underwriting.
Katharine Moxham, spokesperson for Grid, said: "As an organisation, we are very good at sharing our knowledge with members, be that through our responses to consultation papers or answering specific queries, and this is a way for us to share our expertise on a wider scale.
"This is a dynamic industry, products are enhanced all the time to meet changing needs, and we all need to keep up to date with the impact of legislation. Our training academy is a great way for people to learn from those with more experience at the coalface."
Grid worked with the Chartered Insurance Institute to develop the professional qualification in group risk, GR1. The Grid workshops will stand alone but the industry body said they would be good grounding before taking this qualification, or as a follow-up.
The training academy is open to both intermediaries and providers and the first workshop will be in September, with the second in October.
It will be run by providers and intermediaries and will be interactive.
There will be no cost to attend the workshops for Grid members.
