Commenting on the performance of equity markets in July, Gill Hutchison, research director at The Adviser Centre and Embark Group, said: "Given another bout of sterling weakness, overseas allocations in UK investors’ portfolios were particularly rewarding.

"The UK market lagged developed peers, but still rose by over 1 per cent, despite the political traumas.

"Larger caps broadly outperformed mid and smaller-cap companies."

Nevertheless, as the negotiations over the terms of the UK’s departure continue to play out, advisers’ clients may feel unsettled by the uncertainty.

FTAdviser, in association with Schroders, has put together a panel of experts to discuss these issues and more.

Join us at 12pm today (16 August) to put your questions to the experts and join the debate.

Our panel, comprising Alex Breese of Schroders, Adrian Lowcock of Willis Owen, and Ben Seager-Scott from Tilney, will be on hand to answer all your questions and comments from midday.
