Equity income has become coterminous with the UK stock market, such is the prevalence of dividends offered by British companies to investors.
But it has taken something of a back seat in recent years, as values of growth stocks have ballooned, and investors have been able to get returns through capital growth.
But we are now entering a new phase, with high inflation providing a more benign climate for value stocks. Rising interest rates also have implications for bond investors, which means that the corcumstances may be right for equity income.
