CISI calls for support of its Financial Planning Week

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) is encouraging the UK financial planning community to support its national Financial Planning Week in October.

Running from October 3 - 9, the event aims to help consumers take control of their finances amidst the cost of living crisis.

This event will focus on dispelling myths around financial planning and encouraging conversations around finances.

CISI’s assistant director, Sally Plant said there has never been a more important time to talk to the public about financial planning.

Plant said: “Financial Planning Week helps raise awareness about the role of qualified financial planners in helping people from all walks of life, and all ages – and importantly, not just the wealthy – to think ahead and plan for the future."

In previous years, the drive has been to encourage UK financial planners to offer pro-bono guidance and while this is still encouraged, this year the focus will be on the overall messaging to consumers of the importance of finding a professional, qualified financial planner to help them take control of their finances.

CISI has asked members of the financial planning community to get involved in the run up to the event by posting using #FPWUK and interacting with its #10DaysOfFinancialPlanning hashtag on social media.

CISI also plans to share presentations with CISI financial planners to enable them to deliver financial literacy talks to schools to help introduce the conversation around money at a young age.
