Bank of Scotland was the company that received the most complaints, with 16,179 and in second place overall was Lloyds Bank (14,354) with Financial Insurance Company (13,386) in third place.
This was mainly due to a large number of PPI complaints in the run up to the 29 August deadline for bringing complaints.
Consumers have six months from that date to bring their PPI gripes to the Fos after which the window closes.
