AJ Bell poaches Apollo's Ryan Hughes to head fund selection

Apollo Asset Management's Ryan Hughes has joined AJ Bell Investments in the newly created role of head of fund selection.

Mr Hughes will run the company’s managed portfolio service and focus on expanding product offerings from subsidiary AJ Bell Investments, which was formed earlier this year following the acquisitions of Indexx Markets and Mansard Capital.

Mr Hughes joins from Apollo Multi Asset Management where he was a fund manager and responsible for a range of multi asset portfolios. Before Apollo he was a senior fund manager at Old Mutual Global Investors on its multi asset fund range.

Alex Dymock, managing director at AJ Bell Investments said: “Our focus is to build high quality investment solutions for financial advisers and their clients that are simple, low cost and ultimately help them to invest.  Adding someone of Ryan’s experience to the team will help us do that and expand the range of investment solutions we are able to offer.”

Mr Hughes said: “It is an exciting time to join AJ Bell as it expands its offering to advisers to include simple and effective investment solutions as part of its platform proposition."
