Kames reshuffles property team as Walker steps back

Kames Capital Property Income fund co-manager Alex Walker is leaving the firm after eight years and will be replaced by Aviva Investors' Richard Peacock.

Mr Walker will leave the asset manager in December in order to take career break, with Mr Peacock becoming co-manager of the £384m vehicle alongside David Wise.

Mr Peacock, who will report to Mr Wise, has worked for Aviva Investors since 2005, most recently on an open-ended property fund for UK pension schemes.

Kames said the appointment of Mr Peacock in December would "facilitate a smooth handover of the fund from Mr Walker".

Assistant fund managers Gregory Beeson, Karen Fox and Rix Tsang will continue working on the strategy, reporting to Mr Peacock from December.

Though Kames was not among those fund houses to gate its property offering in the fallout of the EU referendum vote, investors in the Property Income fund were hit by a negative fair value adjustment, which was removed last week.

Kames head of property investment Phil Clark said: "We are witnessing very interesting times in the property UK sector following the vote to quit the European Union in June.

"The decision has created both challenges and opportunities for the property market. Richard has worked in the property industry for almost 20 years and the wealth of experience he brings, combined with that of the highly experienced existing team, will ensure that we are well positioned to continue maximising these opportunities."
